Even in this modern age, the ability to provide first aid quickly and calmly at the accident site remains critical. If a person is not breathing, the lack of oxygen can cause brain damage within 3 minutes. After 5 minutes, the chances of successful resuscitation become very low. Every day in Germany, around 400 people die due to acute heart failure.

Safety note: This training is NOT intended to be a substitute for comprehensive first-aid training. Here, practical exercises also play an important role. This course focuses on first aid for accidents that commonly occur in the workplace. It does not cover first aid that is typically applied in outdoor or leisure activities. Furthermore, the training describes first aid procedures explicitly for adults. There are important exceptions to first aid for children which are not discussed in this training. Some information in this training was simplified in order to explain complicated physiological processes to a broad audience.
