The hazard controls required for the safe storage of chemicals strongly depend on the nature of the stored materials and their quantities. The precautions also depend on workplace-specific hazards, particularly on work activities performed in the storage area. However, there is a general set of rules for the storage of hazardous materials which will be discussed in this training.

Safety note: This training is designed to raise your safety awareness and familiarize you with relevant terms and protective measures. It will also help you identify your personal training needs. This training is NOT intended to be a substitute for comprehensive safety training. In this training we will be looking at general guidelines for the storage of chemicals. This training does not discuss safe storage of particularly dangerous chemicals, such as, flammables, explosives, carcinogenic, acutely toxic substances and gases or gas cylinders. This training also does not contain any information on ergonomics and forklift safety.
